Community Support Services (CSS)
Our goal is to support recovery for adults with mental illness. We focus on each person’s strengths, interests and potential for growth. Case managers, psychiatrists, nurses and other staff help integrate consumers into the community. As individuals who have experienced rehabilitation and recovery, consumer providers offer important peer support. Adult services include:
- Case management
- Groups focused on recovery
- Psychiatric services and medicine clinic
- Vocational rehabilitation; job development and job placement
- Attendant care
- Outreach to persons who are homeless
- Liaison services with the court system and state hospitals
Specialized and Innovative Services
- Silver Streaks, a specialized team to serve the needs of senior adults with severe mental illness and co-occurring medical problems.
- Supported housing in cooperation with the Kansas City, Kansas Public Housing Authority.
- Transitional Youth Services for young adults transitioning from youth to adult services.
- Decision Support Center program that encourages consumers to be actively engaged in decision making with their doctors and nurses; consumer access to Internet services, articles, a peer-to-peer workshop and other interventions.

Affordable services
Wyandot Center provides services according to a sliding fee scale based on family size and household income. HealthWave, Medicaid and Medicare are accepted. Health insurance may cover a portion of our services.
Services will not be denied due to inability to pay. Wyandot Center provides available services to people regardless of race, color, religion, age, disability, gender or national origin.
S.I.D.E.—Consumer-Run Organization
Wyandot Center collaborates with S.I.D.E., the consumer-run organization in Wyandotte County. S.I.D.E. stands for:
- Socialization
- Interdependence
- Development
- Empowerment
S.I.D.E. emphasizes leadership development, community exploration and partnerships, advocacy, resource development, networking and citizenship. It provides a safe and convenient place for consumers to gather and network with their peers.
